Designed and fabricated a robotic model organism mimicking a flying fish to study caudal fin locomotion's hydrodynamics, this project evaluated the robot's performance in generating thrust, reducing drag, and managing hydrodynamic moments. The insights gained, crucial for biomimetic engineering and aquatic biomechanics, were presented at The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology in January 2023, showcasing the potential of robotic models in understanding natural locomotion mechanisms.
